Mindset of long standing employees can influence the organizational culture.

Usually HR focus on appreciation, attractive facilities in the workplace, rewards and celebrations to create a good working environment and mindset of employees in an organization but Usually HR not focus on the personal development of employees especially on long-standing employees, as a result they can create issues which leads to spoil the culture in an organization.

Example, in marketing sector, entry level is sales representatives and they can get promoted in several stages as coordinators, executives, assistant manager and managers, in this process they should adopt to the change by acquiring academic qualifications, change of mindset according to the job role, manage the personal commitments.

If those transformations not happened with the age and service people get frustrated because of their own weaknesses but without understanding it they can create unnecessary issues which leads to influence the culture of an organization. Hence HR need to focus on employees development with the age and number of years of employment and emphasize and give the clear guidelines and instructions during annual assessments.

    1. Hi Amila, Thanks. Many companies go for decisions without understanding the mindset of long standing employees and also many employees take bad decisions without understanding their contribution to the organization.

  3. I strongly agreed with your point. it is a current scenario in the pharmaceutical industry .until unless if they did not get proper recognition at the right time .definitely they might create unnecessary issues and influence others to antagonist to the organization culture, hence that's why personal development is required

  4. Yes, it's commonly happening in the pharmaceutical sector because most companies not focus on personal development of medical representatives therefore many medical representatives career stagnate without understanding the company need and fear of the change because they don't want to come out from the comfort zone.

  5. Very valid topic Thilina. Leadership need to focus on personal development of their employees. nowadays some local organisations are also practicing this. as an example, the organisation which I currently working has a good practice. they have a special system for HR related activities and every employee and their supervisors must set up a personal development plan for every individual to bridge the knowledge and experience gap for their next step. this is a annually doing process and the top management evaluate this and give feedbacks in every financial yearends. also this will consider when giving annual bonusses to them.
